I came home from work to find my clown fish very white in color. It is also very hyper and swimming non stop around the tank. My other clown fish seems to have a whitness on one of its sides. Any ideas??

The one was really white all over. Im usually not home this early so I never seen them at this time of day. Now they are calm and their color came back..sounds crazy to me. Im testing my water right now.

Might have been worrying for no reason. Were your lights off when you got home?

I might be crazy, but some fish seem to fade their color when the lights are out and they are sleeping.

My yellow tang seems to do the same thing. I really noticed it in the mornings as I get about two hours of natural sunlight into one side of my tank.

Figuring out the why: Has your primary reason(s) for keeping a saltwater aquarium changed over time?
