I just picked up some Goniastrea, favias, war coral, and a maze brain. Right now they are acclimating to my leds but I was wondering if these corals should be mounted onto the rock structure or if they can do well on the sand. Also do you feed these types of corals and if so what do you feed and how often?

They are all in the same family. Low lighting is best for color and health. I generally leave all my favia types an sand bed and not directly under my 250 metal halides. Even 30" deep on sand bed directly below is too bright. If higher on rocks they tend to bleach or burn. Many LED lighting can be dimmed. So high or low in the tank would be relative to your lighting intensity and depth of tank.
