I am at a loss with this thing. Bout ready to throw it in the trash. Yesterday I came on to find out why my manual WC wasn't working. Got it going and it went all day. This morning I set it up to do another and for some reason ithe 1st pump for adding new water switches to removing water after 1 cycle. Why are these so finicky?!

In case anybody can help with the screens above. TY

Is there any reason you aren’t just doing continuous small daily exchanges? I have mine set to exchange 2.5 gpd just during daylight hours. Haven’t had any issues.
I was using auto at 2% for the past 2 weeks and that's the plan for the future, but I have added a bunch of live rock so trying to do 10% a day for a few days.

In an attempt to figure out the problem, I noticed my drain line was sucking air today. I switched the hoses on the drain side and it started working on that end. Yesterday, the hoses were reversed and it worked perfectly. This thing is possessed!

if you don’t want to use the interface to control your dose. Set a profile and directly specify the direction you want the pumps to run. Then call the profile rather then just calling THEN ON

There is also a WC task option that will set up the commands for you.

The WC task wizard/task is what I have been using to set it up. I'm not sure what you mean by using the interface? Do you mean using the advanced area to write my own programming?

I've only had Apex for about a month and it's been pretty finicky all around, but I can usually find answers when I come on here. I'm a newb for sure and unsure that my programming would be any better lol. I cannot figure out how one day the pump was using the the proper tubing and the next day it reversed itself. I performed the exact same steps to initiate the WC. I will look into you suggestion about setting the profile.

Something looks off if you went through the task wizard. The task is the tile that looks like a clipboard. There is a setup option for water changes. If done correct. Your programming showing have a table data command that’s looks something like attached.

That's weird. I do not get that programming in my advanced tab and I absolutely use the MWC task wizard. Like I said, the day before I did 10% without a hitch. Next day, everything went wonky. I also use the AWC wizard. This looks more like what I see written for those instead of the MWC task. Yesterday I had an Apex software update. Maybe that will solve the issue? Out of town for 2 nights so won't be able to test until tomorrow. Fingers crossed and thanks for responses.

It looks like you are not using the “TASK” set up from fusion. It’s so much easier to do it this way.

In fusion, click on your tank name (mine says EXT. 75)
A list of options will pop up including one that says tasks.

Now click on TASKS. There will be a list of all the things that the apex can help you set up, including auto or manual water changes with your DOS. The program will walk you through every step. It’s as simple as just telling the DOS how much water to exchange daily.

You do not have to set up any kind of coding to accomplish this.

One thing you can do is test using two 5 gallon buckets and rodi water. That is what I would suggest until you know your code is working. You can go a couple of days without water changes.

Look at this article. It may help you. Section 19 I believe is about auto water changes.

Yes, this is exactly how I do it. As mentioned above, it worked perfectly one day and a total disaster the next. Ihad an update on my Apex yesterday morning that took a decent amount of time so maybe I was out of date or something. Will figure it out eventually!

With regards to updates. They take a bit of time to complete. Time to download, run checksums (verification), module dependencies, install, then final check. Seems like it should not but there is more going on than just an install.

Nothing you probably don't already know but wanted to throw it out that it isn't your system.
