Help with Fiji cube 400gph overflow box

Hi all,

Complete newbie when it comes to all things overflow/sump/plumbing related, and I’ve got a question about my Fiji Cube 400 gph overflow box. The overflow box comes with a small pipe for the emergency drain. To get that pipe into the emergency drain bulkhead, am I supposed to sand down that pipe and glue it? It doesn’t go anymore than maybe an 8th of an inch into the bulkhead. I’m struggling to find any sort of installation help beyond the small instructional paper that came with it, which shows the pipe just sliding into the bulkhead.

If the pipe is on the inside of the overflow box then it should be pressure fit and no glued. If it is on the outside of the box, then connections should be glued or screwed (if there are threaded fittings).

Inside of the box, so pressure fit. It just doesn’t want to go for some reason. It fits on the bottom of the overflow box how I’d imagine it should (snug but not impossible) but for whatever reason I can’t get it to fit in the top where it’s supposed to.

Is it a straight pipe? Have you tried both ends? If necessary, a slight DIY modification might help.

My suggestions are general and are based on what I am imagining. Pictures may help us provide better input.

Here’s a picture of the exact overflow. The pipe inside the box is the one I’m referring to. In this picture, it looks like it should just slide in but for the life of me I can’t get it. I’ve tried both ends of the pipe into both bulkheads, but no dice. I may just email Fiji and see what they suggest…

Is it a standard size? Could you use a piece of thin-walled PVC?

I guess I’m not sure, it just comes with the kit. Maybe they sent the wrong size? There’s a lip inside the bulkhead that it catches on and doesn’t let it go any further no matter how hard I push.

Fijicube bulkheads suck. They have a lip on them that doesn’t fit tubing correctly.
I had to buy a new 3/4 bulkhead for my Fuji cube 20 sump for the 3/4” pipe to actually go in correctly.
I would probably just buy 2 new 1” bulkheads
