Help with first time shipper

I want to start shipping corals and want to know the best and cheapest way to do so.

I always use fedex. I save the styrofoam containers from my previous orders and use them. You should also you heat or cold packs depends on weather. Double or triple bag and use old styrofoam pellets or newspaper to pack. Never put heat or cold packs directly on corals. Tape to underside top of box

I've got no input to offer on the shipping aspect. I suppose ones rate to do overnight FedEx depends on volume/destination.

I have had some great experience recently however with the packing done by Brandon at FragHouse corals - small translucent cups that protect the frag, placed in a small heat sealed bag, then double bagged in the same way, then boxed in styrofoam with newspaper packing. He punches a small hole in the styrofoam lid for ventilation, then uses a hand warmer taped to the underside of the lid, over the hole, to maintain temperature. Might be common practice for all I know, but, it's an incredibly effective process.

+1 to use a urinalysis cup with a small hole in a dixy cup, upside down in that, to hold the frag plug. And depending upon temp of the route of shipping, use a heat/cold pack, with at least some bags between it. 72 hour reptile heatpacks are awesome.

Though I did have a thought last time I got a shipment of a multi-hundred dollar acanthophyllia (big meaty coral) and that is, if I were to ship it, I would glue the bottom of it into a tuperware container. Untested, and random thought. :)
