Please help me with what this tube type thing is growing off my zoas. It only has them on this plug all the others seem fine. I’ve removed several time but it keep returning. They seem irritated by it and won’t open fully.

Those are like rhizomes on plants. Little future zoas. Congrats, you did it!
Thank you for replying, just weird they are vertical and all my other grow like webs across the rocks.

Looks like some type of sponge.

Just remove as much you can before your next water change, but keep in mind that any tissue left behind will most likely grow back. It might take awhile before you get all of it. GL.

Zoanthus doesn't grow stolons like that. The only coral I know of that does this and is commonly found in the hobby is Clavularia.

Do you have Clove Polyps nearby? These look like the little "tentacles" that Cloves send out to find new territory to populate. If so, they're harmless, just annoying when they pop up in your Zoa colonies.

I don't have any clove polyps but the breeder I got these from may have had some in his racks.
