Hey all. Getting ready to start dosing kalkwasser soon for my 1st time and need some help.

Total system volume is about 102 gallon mixed reef with like 20 small frags. Currently im dosing 20ml of red sea alk a day and thats been keeping me at 9dkh.

Whats a good starting dosage for the kalkwasser and how many teaspoons per gallon of ro should I use?

If you mean Red Sea Foundation B, and if you plan to use saturated kalkwasser, then 2 L per day is a reasonable place to start. It matches the alk added, but you may need to raise it if the higher pH increases demand.

Its the powder alk mixed to brs ratio to match the liquid. If I rarely add calcium at this point will it raise it too high?

Im only adding say 20ml cal per weekish. Is my tank too new to be dosing kalk?

Not sure what a BRS ratio means for a Red Sea product, but the powder Red Sea Foundation B has these directions: mix 100 g into 1 L of Ro/DI. Is that was you used?

There's no ongoing scenario where you should be adding only alkalinity, unless calcium is already above 550 ppm. It is being used in proportions close to what kalk provides, but it is much harder to detect the expected calcium drop with a test kit because it moves very slowly.

Brs made videos on how to dilute the powder in ro water to have the same concentration as the liquid additives. I cant remember the exact ratio i followed the video.

OK thanks for the help.

There's also the online reef calculator website and has limewater as an option. Do you know if this path is often used to get your daily dosage?

I used the Reef Chemistry Calculator to get the 2 L I posted for you to use. :)

I expect BRS was telling you how to follow the Red Sea directions, so the 2 L is matching.
