I need some assistance, Lighting my new tank. It’s a 90 gallon. I’m open to all suggestions and opinions. I’m leaning to T5 more but please give me reasons to go LED

That would depend on what your keeping and what you may want to keep in the future.
Tell us your vision.

In general, corals love that super defused T5 light, but some don’t like that there’s no shimmer.

some do both.

Let’s say I go t5 what would be the perfect number of bulbs over a 90gal

4 for your LPS and Softies
6 for Acropora

I would get a 6 bulb fixture, since usually there is a 4 bulb channel + 2 bulb channel.

Sorry, I don’t use T5 anymore as I have to replace the bulbs every year as they lose intensity and shift to more red.

I use Chinese Blackbox LED, they have grown everything and running as new, four years later.

On my 90 I use a reefbreeders photon 48 plus. I have a mixed tank and there are some slightly shaded areas on the ends and where my cross brace is in the middle. I like that I can adjust the intensity of the LED and have quite a bit of PAR available for the few SPS I have in the tank.
