Calling the mantis masters. I have an idea what this is, I just want some confirmation. Can someone else take a look and let me know which species of mantis you think this is? This one came in from tbs.

It's REALLY hard based on those photos.

I've had a small (2.5") mantis shrimp in a 40g aio coral and anemone tank (no fish) for a year with no issues. I just collected another one 2 weeks ago (accidentally) and just moved it to the same tank. I have lots of snails, some small hermit crabs, a couple small serpent stars, a small sea cucumber and an old coral banded shrimp in the tank which is now full of BTA and RFA along with a couple big rocks covered with green zoas from the Florida Keys.

I almost never see the mantis shrimp as they stay under rocks most of the time.

This is the one I just moved into my tank. It's just over 2 inches long.

I'll try to get some better full body photos when it comes out again. That's a nice one you've got there!

I dunno the ID, but in my tanks they get gone. They are not welcome, I hate the clickity clack sounds, and I've been punched in the thumb once.
Lol this one's going to stay. It's part of the crew now 😂

There's somewhere between 400 and 500 different species of mantis shrimp. Within those different species they are divided into the smashing type and the spearing type based on their "raptorial appendages" yours looks like the smashing type.

I hope these may help a little better. Excuse my glass 😂 im on the back end of a hair algae takeover. That 🐚 he's sitting in front of is his burrow and he closes it with some of the left over algae. I tried to get a picture of his tail too while he was going back in.
