These guys are a hard subject since there's so many contradicting info. A lot of it is by a tank to tank basis. Did your tank cycle completely? Did u add nitrifying bacteria? I would sugjest turn off all powerheads and place where u think it would like the best so theres no water moving it. I got a steal on a rainbow bta at a conference for 25$. The whole selection didnt look good, some where pushing their insides out. It was that bad. The water smelled bad. I picked the best one they had and i knew it was risky. I got it in my tank and it attached right away. Shriveled up, lost some tentacles due to the drastic water chemistry difference and temp but i knew i had to get it in right away due to the water it was already in. But now its growing its tentacles back, looks amazing, bubbled up, amd recently just started boating my clowns. Eats like a pig. Amd I've had a green bta before amd some say my nitrates were to high and it would die but mine kept growing. My nitrates were over 180. I think it depends on a tank to tank basis like i said earlier. I had another guy on rc that asked about his. It was losing tentacles *** well. Once i put my two cents in i immediately for bad mouthed too saint i didn't know what i was talking about. Saying not to feed it because of the bacteria that lives on its oriface takes care of it, but since it didn't have any tentacles it didn't have that bacteria built up so it was losing strength daily sick is why i told them to feed it. Well it ended up he didn't listen amd it died.

This is my rainbow bta i got and I'd say it looks incredibly healthy.

How long have you had it in total? Where its tentacles that long to begin with (aside from the falling out). I assume mine was relatively young when I got it because of its size to tentacle size. They are still really small and 1 clown BARELY fits into it, I feed it every 3 days and it eats 1/2 a silverside. Its "growing" but its tentacles are not longer....

Ive had it in my tank for about 2 to 3 months. It healed fast. And the tentacles were actually like 1/2" long when i got it. I feed mine my mix. I mix fertility frenzy for the fish, marine snow, fuel, and some pellets for my zoas mixed with garlic and selcon. It has been fast and growing so dont give up hope, it is possible for bta to heal amd grow fast. One day it will look small and pushing stuff out of its stomache and the next be bigger and more fuller than before. What i mean by that is that they do expell waste from time to time. Ull noti e it spitting out brown or even white stuff from its mouth. The only time u should have to worry is whe. Its mouth is gaping open, shriveled up and start to see white stringy stuff coming out and it dimminishing.

I think you mistake me for the OP lol but thats ok. If you check my earlier post w/ pictures my BTA is and has been spot on healthy from day one, growing but not growing longer tentacles. When I saw yours is only a bit bigger than mine but way larger tentacles is why I asked.

If you look at the first post you asked if it was dying. This is why i went into details. No worries it might have been a misunderstanding on my part. I keep seeing OP. Might be a stupid question but what do you mean?

Original poster - OP

I meant aside from your's dying (the length of its tentacles are still longer than mine)
