Hi fellow reefers!

My sister is currently working on a project for her practicum where she has to visually show children an effect of sickle cell anemia on blood flow. She basically wants to use aquarium tubing as “veins” and a y fitting to split one into two. Her idea was to use beads as red blood cells (RBS) and something similar to macaroni as sickle cells (SS) and having them move through the tubing in liquid, with hopefully some of the SS get caught up while the RBS make it through. We wanted to have this system attached to a small return pump in order to have a closed system continually running, but I’m sure we will face issues with the beads and macaroni getting caught/shredded in the pump so I’m hoping some of you DIYers may have some input/ideas to get a similar system. I included a simple diagram of how she hopes this will flow. Thanks!! 189C1BF0-B6C0-45FE-8C57-88355C492CA6.jpeg
