So I am planning on adding this 40 Gallon breeder to my main system as a frag system and am in the process of getting it set up.

My question is would it be ok to add another 1 inch bulkhead for an emergency drain?

I explored a durso standpipe but not much room to work with. Any thoughts, opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A street elbow will save you some space and might go straight into that bulkhead or a new bulkhead.

Does that tank have an additional overflow option... in case the one clogs?

No that’s kinda where I’m going with it not only will it be loud but could clog as well. I drilled the first one out the back instead of the bottom because of my stand and I’m going to drill a 3/4 return on the other end

Yes you can. I just use 45 degree fittings on the top of my drains. I open up and smouth out the inside for smoother flow. The advantage is its compact, easy and quite at different flow rates. You don't need to glue anything inside the overflow box so you can change it if need be.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?
