Came home yesterday and my Todd's Torch had what looked like BJD. I didn't have a bit for my Dremel so I used my bone cutters to remove the few heads showing signs. I put those heads in a separate container with KFC dip. There are still tentacles showing on these heads. The rest of the colony I did a separate KFC dip and put back in my tank. A small head is showing signs of dying or BJD. I think this all started when I moved the colony a couple of weeks ago and my clownfish was always near and in the torch heads. I picked up a Dremel but today but it would be a tight cut. Thoughts on how I should proceed?

I would do my best to frag off the smaller dying head. You could also take the torch out and with a cotton ball and drip a 50/50 peroxide mixture on the dying head. You can rinse it off if you want, but the peroxide won't hurt the tank.

Well this colony was about 11 heads. I had one branch, the original, that was spread out from the others. That's all that is left despite hydrogen peroxide and KFC treatment. So 2 heads left that are splitting.

I recenlty had done the KFC treatment it brought a bunch of torches back from the dead!

How is the torch doing today?

Congrats on saving any heads.

For me, since BJD can spread so easily and I have so much invested in livestock now, unless it appears to be easy to frag and I think there will be a high success rate, I just toss. If I had a 2nd tank, quarantine tank, something, then Id probably attempt more saving, but as it stands its too risky, for me.
