I had a saltwater aquarium way back in 2006. I did everything wrong but that tank thrived, I think because I started with an amazing piece of old liverock that I think was plundered out of some Caribbean reef. Then my house flooded (unrelated) and I had to dismantle the tank and decided that it was too much anxiety at the time.

I recently set up an Opae Ula tank and realized how much I missed that aquarium and how relaxing it was to sit and stare at the critters. Every time I spotted something new (which was often, thanks to the liverock) it was exciting. So I am getting back into the hobby trying to do it frugally and mindfully. I enjoy learning and there’s tons to learn here, but I’m much older and wiser now and more able to take things in stride.

Anyway, that’s my boring story. Thanks for having me.
