I literally can not add new hermits to my tank despite having tons of extra shells laying everywhere in the tank. Every time I add new hermits my big Zebra hermit (not a hairy legged) runs around with the peppermint shrimp on his back and pulls the hermits out of their shells and feeds them to the shrimp. It makes no since as the hermit doesn’t even check out the shells, it seems that it’s territorial. Has anyone ever had a similar experience?

Yeah I have a big mexican red-leg hermit that bullies the others. He doesn't kill them or anything but he'll hover over them and try to pinch their legs and claws so that they can't move. They'll stay like this for hours (like sometimes 12 or more) in a single position not moving. Not sure about the whole killing and feeding relationship with the shrimp though
