I purchased a feather duster this evening and my hermit crab was all over him eating stuff that it was encased it. I had to put the crab in a breeding net. Has anyone experienced this?

That is a hermit for you. The hermit is probably just cleaning off algae and detritus but it can stress out other inverts and corals, hence the reason I do not keep mid to larger hermits.

This is happening to me to and I hope it will be ok, because he has been closed for awhile

I have a small army of different hermits and had a featherduster for about 6 months now I’d say. One thing about those little crabs is they always run to new frags/rocks and eat something off them. I can never see what they eat, but new stuff is like a magnet for them. They let it go after about of a day of ganging though.

Yeah, but it’s pretty annoying to the coral
