I looked at the tank tonight with a flashlight and saw one of the hermits spawning! I tried to get some pictures to share but it was tough getting decent pictures with my phone.

It looked like the hermit was releasing little shrimp into the water. You can see the babies on the glass in the second picture. In the last picture you can see their little eyes if you zoom in. There’s a ton of them on the sand! I don’t expect them to make it but it would be really cool if a few did.

It was not a spawn - it was a release of larvae. It means that you have both sexes and it will probably happens again. if you can find baby shells to next time - maybe some survive.

Congrats! From what I've read, it looks like they have an extended (at least longer than a night) larval life cycle, but if you choose to raise them, I'd love to follow along!

Where does one find baby shells for hermits? I've wanted a few dwarf blue leggies for my 13gal but I'm unsure where to get proper shells

Wow, this kind of stuff is why I love this hobby. I’ll post an update if I see any babies running around. I’m not holding my breath though. I’ve looked for some larvae today and haven’t seen a single one. I’m sure my LPS and the dragon pipefish had a buffet
