I know he's a goner, just looking for motivation to keep going been way too excited for this guy. Any thoughts or shops to recommend? He came in today from California Live Aquaria, I live in southeastern New Mexico , so local shops and frag swaps aren't a thing. I've heard Denver? Anyone with experience from shops?

I got mine at my LFS, I’d say go to the stores near you and wait for them to get some in/ask them to order some. Too risky imo to order clams online cause they could have pyramid snails, be sick, have different coloration than photos show, etc. I only buy clams if I see them in person. Here’s mine.

I would recommend Pacific East Aquaculture. I’ve gotten some amazing corals from them. I haven’t gotten a Clam from them, but I have heard great things.

Flinching is not good enough. He should close entirely within seconds of you blocking the light. Light reaction is good but flinching instead of him shutting all the way is a sure sign of sickness, he’s also gaping his shell pretty bad. That’s almost always a death sentence
