Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm a 41 year old reefer who has been back in the hobby for almost exactly a year now. In my twenties I was living in an apartment complex that burned completely to the ground. All that was left standing was my 55 gallon pride and joy reef tank sitting on one of those wrought iron stands. Somehow the heat didn't shatter the glass, but from behind the yellow tape the police and fire department had up, you could see the water in the tank still boiling. My heart was broken, not because I lost all my belongings, but because I lost my only escape from the crazy world (and let's face it, the world is way crazier now than twenty years ago) Which is why I had to build again....Fast forward to a year ago, I finally decided it was time. A lot had changed and mostly for the good since I last had been in the hobby. But it's just like riding a bike. I bought a second hand IM 30L, put an octo varios2 return pump in it and added the nano icecap skimmer in the back compartment along with a pair of heaters and here we are a year later and I'm really enjoying the choice I made to get back into the hobby. But I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to join the group and I look forward to meeting and learning new things from everyone on here! Happy New Year and here's to another wonderful year of reef aquarium keeping!!! Thanks guys. - ReeferRat
