My name is Alex Casas, and I’m new to the world of marine aquariums. Back in 2003, I kept a freshwater Oscar for about five years. I used to hand-feed him pieces of meat, and he became more than just a fish — he was my roommate and my pet. Unfortunately, during a trip, the pump failed, and when I returned home, he had passed away. It truly made me cry. That experience stayed with me for many years.

I joined Reef2Reef in May of last year when I purchased my tank. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to studying and researching through the forum because I honestly know nothing about this hobby yet. I’ve been amazed by the quality of the articles here and by how much time and effort people dedicate to teaching and helping others.

It took me the entire year to purchase all my equipment, and in November I took advantage of the Black Friday deals to complete everything. Right now, I’m in the middle of the build, and I’ll be starting a build thread soon.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and making this community such a great place to learn.

Looking forward to being part of it!
