I have the fluval evo 13.5 tank. It's a mix reef with lps and softies.
Tank is almost 2 years old and i do about 1.5 gal water change weekly.
I've noticed recently my ph in the morning is 8.4 and 8.6 before the lights go off. I know kalk can raise ph but it's easy to use and i really don't have the room for 2 part. Last week i tried dosing vinegar in my tank and I think it cost me my emerald and halloween hermit.
Is there a way to keep kalk and get my ph down to 8.3?
Thanks

I would recalibrate and test your pH again. It’s unlikely to be that high. What’s your alk?

I agree with bakbay. I suspect your pH is not that high, if there is an issue it is mostly the probe thats the problem.

I wouldn't worry about pH being high unless your water gets cloudy. Just to echo the comments above, pH probe calibration is a major source of needless stress. If in doubt, aeration always helps.

Thanks for the replys, that makes me feel better.
I'm sorry to say, I thought about recalibration. Should've done that first.
My alk is on the lower side a bit over 7 but I just tested my mag and it was about 100 low, so I'm assuming that's leasi to lower alk. My cal was 380 this afternoon. All these were before water change though.

I finally calibrated my ph monitor. Now I'm showing 7.6 mid day and I used my ati which was around 7.8. So now I'm low.
I don't want to try to chase levels after my 2 crab losses. Should I be concerned? Everything else in my tank is thriving.

Honestly I wouldn’t chase pH. Mine used to be around 7.8 until I went with CO2 scrubber. Honestly doubt that the current 8.3+ helps with my SPS growth anyway.
