My tank has been set up for 5 years now and a while back the PH started rising so I disconnected the CO2 scrubber but it keep climbing and now sits at 8.5 at night and climbs up to 8.69-8.7 in the day. What can I do to lower back down?

if you disconnected your co2 scrubber and your ph is still "climbing", i'd recalibrate your probe, and then test again with the probe and with another ph meter/tester.
i wouldn't be overly concerned, though.

Also, in case your pH actually is high, the "Solutions to High pH Problems" section of the article below may help:

I checked the probe calibration which read 7.14 instead of 7.01 and is only a couple months old. I will pick up a box test and see what it reads.
