For the past few years, I've been doing fresh water tanks, mainly planted tanks, and ended up with 5 or so tanks set up in my office. Well, I kinda got burned out on that and decided to break those down and setup one reef tank. I set up a 40G breeder that I had used as a planted tank.

Equipment:
40G Breeder
20G Long Sump

Lighting
4x39w TEK T5
Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus

Skimmer
Eshopps Gen. II PSK-100

RO/DI Unit
EXTREME TYPHOON III 150 GPD RODI with Gauge & TDS Alarm & Dual TDS Meter from Air, Water & Ice

Powerheads
Two Koralia 2 units

Return Pump
Eheim 1260

Controller

ReefKeeper Lite

Very nice setup in terms of equipment. How do you like that unit from Air, Water, Ice, as that is the exact one I have? I've been extremely happy with it.

What Koralias are you using? Are you putting them on a timer through the RKL?

Here is a picture of the tank after initial fill back in February of 2010.

What kind of fish are you putting in the new tank? What fish do you have in the 40B?

Awesome setup. Sounds really great. Please let us know the stock list you plan to keep. and +1 on the koralias on the RKL, if you are doing that.

I like the RO/DI unit too. It seems to perform pretty well - at least from test results from the meters it shipped with. About to order a new filter kit this morning.

Just as an FYI, the new Koralia Evolutions are terrible. I bought 2 x 750 and 2 x 1050, and I ended up giving them away. Even after the new bushings, they would spin backwards, not turn on, etc. My advice on Koralia is to keep them on all the time. They are loud turning on and off with a controller. This, of course, is simply my own experience, and others may have varied, but I was so fed up with them that I went out and bought Vortechs and couldn't have been happier.

You could probably do two MP10s on that tank :)

Check out the different sources for replacement filters, they are all about the same, so just look for price. I get mine from either BRS, Buckeye Field Supply, or Air,Water,Ice depending on shipped prices.

What are you going to keep fish wise? Also any intrest in going to coral?

You've got the lights for some coral, and I do like the color combination that you run. I have T5s on my frag tank, but I don't think my sps grows as fast under them. They aren't as powerful as my display lights though.

So lets hear the fish list :)

The Korolias are older models. I haven't been running them on the RKL and don't plan to.
I will be using Vortechs in my 120 - the build for that is almost done. I'll be posting a thread/blog on that build process when I can.

Sounds great, will be looking forward to that, should be nice to watch the build, as I enjoy reading people's builds and get ideas from it.

I ordered the set from Air, Water, Ice this morning. Should be here by the end of the week. Excellent company!!

Nice, I've gotten some from then before as well. One reason I like Buckeye is cause its one day shipping for me, so cost of ground is overnight for me :) Same with Premium Aquatics as well.

I had a Purple Firefish as of yesterday. Sometime last evening he took a ride down the overflow and got sucked into the skimmer pump.

I've been waiting on fish until I got the 120 set up.

Thats one reason I use filter socks on the drain into my sump, haha

The setup sounds great, do you have any current pic's of it?

I really like how you had it set up as a FW planted tank, that looked really nice!

Yeah, the planted looked fantastic in that tank.

How are your zoas growing? I had a nice colony of those spidermans, but they melted out of nowhere one day.
