I noticed a pile of shells in the front of my four month old tank. I started with live rock. In the middle of the pile I found this urchin. It doesn't look like a black rock boring or collector tuxedo urchin. Any ideas?

Probably a type of urchin commonly called a "purple urchin" or purple pincushion/short-spine urchin.
Where did the live rock originate? The purple urchins are quite invasive in some areas.

Agree. Man your on top of it today

The rock came from Tampa Bay(tbs) about 4 months ago. I don't have a sump so I will put him back in tank. It's about an inch across.
