I’m looking to upgrade my skimmer, however I’m having issues locating one that I can guarantee fits. I’m currently running an AIO mixed reef and with my addition plans I have to upgrade my skimmer first. Now the only issue with an AIO unit is the lack of space, which lead me to a HOB skimmer.

Here’s my problem, my tank has a think rim, aprox 1.5”, which lead me to the Reef Octopus Classic 1000-HOB

Online it says its footprint is 8”- 3.5”. Now the issue with that is that the distance between the wall and my tank can fit 3.25”.

Does anyone know if the reef octopus skimmer could fit? Like are the pump/return lines part of the 3.5” footprint, or is that the skimmer itself?

Also if the reef octopus won’t fit, does anyone have any suggestions to my space issues?

I just measured for you, you need 3.75 of space between the tank glass and skimmer.
Okay thanks! Do you or anyone else have any possibly recommendations? I don’t think it’s possible with my current situation but let me know!
