Holiday Alkalinity

Hello,

Have a question about alkalinity while on vacation.

Every time my family goes on vacation, my pH rises (as expected) which drives my alkalinity down.

Usually, my tank struggles in the following weeks. I assume from alkalinity instability.

I currently dose AFR throughout the day.

My question is, can I adjust my AFR dosing to prevent this from happening?

I think >0.5… but, I convoluted the results by adjusting Kalk (not using Kalk anymore).

I kept increasing Kalk to raise the alkalinity. Should I just keep my dosing stable?

I think <.5 is not causing any issue. Many people have daily or weekly .5 swings

I’ll probably not change my dosing. I guess another adjustment is just another bump in stability

If you knew from past experience how much alk dropped, adding some extra AFR doesn’t seem an issue to me.
