Homewrecker receding?

Just recently bought a JF homewrecker at a live sale, when I received it I noticed a brown spot but thought nothing of it. After a few days in the tank I notice the brown spot getting bigger and it seems the flesh is starting to recede a little bit. I have plenty of sps in the tank with no issues (Walt Disney, rainbow milli, and a few others). I have fragging supplies, should I cut it above the brown and place it on a new plug? The frag is about 3/4 of an inch so cutting it would make it about 1/2 frag. Thanks for the help

Can you get a better photo? It looks to me like the frag has died up from the base, but it has stopped and started to heal... but it is SO hard to tell. I only say this since most fresh receding death is white stiff.

If so, I would prepare a new plug with a ball of putty... then, push the dead part down into the putty to where the live tissue is just touching the putty. This should allow it to encrust.

All of this said, I would wait for a while since you just got this.... unless the receding is progressing and then you kinda have to do something right away, but with such a tiny frag, it will be tough.

Thanks @jda! I took a few more pics, Iv been monitoring the flesh over the past few days and it hasn’t moved in either direction for the most part so I can’t tell if it’s continuing to die and is healing. Hope some of these pics help.

Doesn’t look to be currently dying. Maybe old death. It will be white as it’s dying
