Hood design for a rimless tank

Has anyone built a hood for a rimless tank - in my case a Red Sea 250? My wife hates the light spill from the AI Primes when sitting down to watch TV. The hood seems to be a good way to prevent the horizontal spread. I am not sure how to place one on the glass directly though. Any ideas would be welcome.

Great idea. Unfortunately the living room was just renovated and I think I would be sleeping with the fishes if I drill into the wall or the ceiling. ;)

I’m needing to consider the same thing. I bought a waterbox marine x 110 for my office, and we’re getting a faint white dusting on our desks in the mornings so I’m trying to cut down on how far the evap travels. How high are you going to make it? I’m not sure how close I want to place the lights. Seems like a tall hood if it has to be like 15 inches to totally hide the lights.

My tank isn't rimless, but I made a floating hood.

You can make a floating canopy without drilling holes in the wall. You can use wood or metal pipe attached to the aquarium stand vertically and suspend the canopy from that instead of the wall. Just make sure the vertical structure can hold the weight of the canopy. I have done this before and it works great if you make a single attachment point it can be swiveled.

My 360 was rimless and the hood had strips that rested on tank and it was in the tank snug
You can eurobrace with glass for better support of hood

This is how I did my frag tank. Ignore the cable mess, I am pulling out an apex for a reef pi.

And a rimless peninsula.

To add, I work right under the frag tank. I added a diffuser screen that you can see in the FTS. It took the glare from uncomfortable to nice. The direct light would bother me even when I wasn't looking at the tank. I didn't want to sacrifice even light and ease of access to lower the canopy.

However, I found shrouds from 3DReefing that include diffusers. They work great for my need of reducing horizontal light spill. They may not work for you though since it won't do anything re evaporation (yes, my tank is still dry as I slowly gather the pieces). The artificial corals don't seem to mind though and keep it from looking too barren):
