Picked up a long tentacle anemone a few days ago, and it looks like it’s doing pretty well, but o don’t know a whole lot about anemones, so just wanted to check (:

Definitely thriving! They really appreciate a varied diet of raw shrimp, mysis, or brine shrimp and don't be surprised if it's in a totally different location when you wake up LOL

Doesn't get much better.

Don't be surprised if you touch it and it quickly retracts into the sand. It will come back out quickly. :)

Yeah LTA's are weird that way, I had a snail fall on one once and it completely disappeared into sand for the whole day

Thanks! This is so comforting to read. The lighting is a Fluvial sea nano. LOTS of par for the size, lol. The tank has been running for about 7 months. It was a reef tank until I accidentally dosed it remedy... I had to go out and buy a whole new system that day, lol but no casualties! the remedy is finally out of the system so I decided to make it a em tank with the exception of my gsp colony. I have a whyoming white and a normal occ. clown in there :) they haven't quite figured out the whole hosting thing yet, though. lol. Also, FTS? whats that? lol.

Not sure why it doubled, ha. There's very minimal flow in there right now. I was going to go get a small wave maker or power head but since the nem seems to be doing so well then maybe not? What are your thoughts?

Looks like you have a nice deep sand bed for it.

LTA like moderate light and flow

LTA is not really a natural match for occs as found in wild, but I'm sure they will recognize it and take to it, just sometimes takes a little longer.

It might end up shifting up against rockwork maybe, pretty typical, but I'd leave it alone and let it do it's thing.

Nem Update: It seems to be doing really well. It sort of shrinks just enough to notice at night, but nothing too jurassic. extended and beautiful during the day. Clowns still not hosting, lol. Something weird though is I've found two or three 'deflated' tentacles around the tank? They were on the nem when I got it (or showed up within a day or 2), and were deflated, but now they've fallen off. Is this budding by any chance? I haven't noticed any deflated tentacles on the em since. I haven't had the chance to check params in a few days, but I found several baby trochus snails!! And there has been an EXPLOSION of coraline algae on a specific rock.. It went from having a few spots to having a few dozen spots over the course of two days! So, I assume params are good. Still haven't gotten that power head, haven't gotten off work early enough to do that yet, but plan on doing it tomorrow.

When I first got my LTA it had a few arms that were super thin. I was so scared it was gonna die but I let it sit for a few days then fed it and it worked great. I know some suggest to leave it for a week or 2 before feeding. Can’t remember not a nem expert. But I had 2 clowns that wouldn’t go near my nem. I tried everything. I captured them and put them in a tube and left it on top of the nem and It didn’t work. Ended up going to my LFS and found a clown that was hosting and put it in my tank and sure enough he host my LTA. Only down side is he’s super aggressive if anyone or anything goes near it. I’ve gotten bit many times when cleaning my tank!

What you are going through is pretty much exactly what my nem has been doing for months. All is good!
