not much input but i do have the same camera but you can get the 100mm 2.8 macro for a little cheaper at newegg Newegg.com - Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens
i got the 18-55m with the package, its an ok lense, I use it for the everyday use

real nice setup.

I would wait a couple months. a whole new line of gear is coming out from both canon and nikon....supposed to anyway.

This will drive prices lower for current models.

Also, FWIW, myself shooting nikon would be of much more help in the nikon line, as well as having equipment you can tryout/borrow if need be.
