Hello everyone. I was interested on how accurate fish sizes are you see on websites are. Are they the adverage adult size? Or are they the maximum size seen in captivity. Like will most yellow tangs get to 8 inches or is this the cealing. Obviously all fish are different and they grow to different sizes. As an analogy the adverage max height for a human is 5’9” I am 6’6”. How many fish grow past there listed size. And are there ones that never reach that size.(assuming they live long enough).

Some specify "max size" but others I think kind of aim at high end of average range. IMO it's best to consider how big a fish *could* get when determining if it's going to be a good fit for your tank. And yes, it's definitely a situation where YMMV
