How bad is it really???

I bought these Paly's about 5 months ago because I thought they looked cool and were priced good. I never thought about their deadly venom these little suckers carry when I purchased them. Question is should I remove them to avoid any risks? Or are they as bad as everyone says? I have a wife and three boys at home and I dont want something happening to them because of these coral.

Yes I know there is an Aptasia chlling up on the rocks I need to get rid of....

palytoxins suck and are deadly. just use all caution when handling them, face mask, gloves, wear a long sleeve shirt.

Sorry, yes I know Palytoxin is bad. I just meant with these corals. If left alone am I still at risk or only when fragging, etc?

DUDE....that will jump out of your tank and attack you the moment you sleep...haha just me having some fun....sorry. Just be careful when you cut or touch them and wash your hands. If you are going to frag them out of the tank I would wear glasses since some can squirt and you would have a bad few days if they get that in your eyes. All zoas have that toxin but some more than others I believe but it is nothing to be really worried about as long as you use certain precautions as mentioned.

Only when fragging and boiling the rock inside the house. Wear glasses, gloves, and if you don’t feel comfortable doing it inside. Do it outside the house

Yeah man you and your family are perfectly fine if you follow these suggestions.
1. Wash your hands before and after you do anything in your tank.
2. If you are fragging them wear gloves and goggles and do it outside not with a bunch of people not protected.
3. Have your kids and wife not put their hands in the tank. If they do have them follow suggestion 1.
4.You can buy gloves to wear but should still practice suggestion 1.
5. And the one I try to practice the most EVERYBODY keep hands out the tank and let it do it’s thing. The less we mess the better it will do.

Lol, a little paranoid I know. I have had them for 5 months or so and never thought of them...even swallowed a little water a month ago when starting a Syphon..... :-(

I was looking at them yesterday and it suddenly hit me....aren't those poisonous? Lol

I do like them and I think the brown one is called "Texas Trash" or so I have heard cause its ugly. I think their cool though and wouldn't want to get rid of them if I didn't have to.

They don’t release toxins unless it’s cut and would stay in the water Colum.

Don't eat them or cook them for dinner. You follow that and they'll let the human race live another day. They'll act violently if bitten, cooked, cut in half.

Careful as the top ones in the picture spread fast and are a real pain if you want to get rid of them. I have let rocks dry in sun for months, then rinse carefully, soak in dark, and they still come back. :)

The top ones I got squirted twice in the eyes. Well, once was my bad for touching eyes after messing with them (towel I used to dry hands was covered in it), second, I did use eyeglasses and turned, and it still got me.

I rinsed eyes (flushed rapidly) for quite some time. Then lost vision for two days (all white foggy), then headaches for two weeks, then fine. Sucked, but nothing too severe long term. Just do not handle with bare hands or without eyewear.

Yes, as stated, do not boil or bite into them. Could be an issue.

Ok cool. The brown ones haven't spread that much. Only bigger. The top ones have spread alot. Was only a small disk frag with about 20. Now it has covered the rock. I made that rock with the shelf and I am kind of fond of it. I didn't want a poisonous coral covering it all up and having to get rid of it.

I've had palys like this where I've left in a bucket of tap water for a month in cold so cal weather. Cold being like 40 degrees. Guess what? They don't die. I hate them.
