I really like the way that the maroon and yellow clowns look and I have been thinking about getting a mated pair. My worries are that they will outgrow my 40breeder. Any clown experts want to chime in?

They will be fine in a 40,but Im not sure I would put any other fish in a 40 with them, thats kinda asking for problems.Their max size is about 6" or so.They are really cool fish to be honest, and I really like them alot!

ok thanks so much...since i already have a few fish, i guess you just gave me an excuse to set up a new system!!! now to talk the GF into it...oh boy

Tell her that these fish are rare, and that they are very amazing, and that they will provide amazing coloration to your new system, and if you get a new system, she will be able to buy a new Louis Vuitton purse!

LOL,jk!

I love maroons, by far my favorite clown. The females get considerably bigger than the male. The female will get 5-6" and the male 3-4". The female is more dominant. If you only have one it will most likely become female. I had one in a 55 and it was fine with the other fish I had, especially once I got a nem for it. Rarely strayed very far from the nem, but they are feisty.
