Cycle question. Ammonia has been 0 for a week. Nitrites are at 2ppm. Nitrates are at 40ppm. am I getting close?

Personally I would say its done, I would do a water change and get a fish. IMO

The cycle is complete. Nitrite is not toxic in seawater; that’s a freshwater issue.

You can add fish. Nitrate may even drop once the nitrite is gone, since nitrite can sometimes interfere with NO3 test results.

Done, 50% water change to get nitrates down and add 1-2 fish.

I have had a six line I. There for a couple weeks. I’m just planning on adding coral at the moment it’s my frag tank

Update. I did a water change and added coral last mid week. Everything looks ok. Not great but nothing is dying other than one piece of sps. Water is cloudy looking. I did another water change today of about 3 gallons. Ammonia is 0 nitrites are still at 1-2ppm. Nitrates are around 5-10 ppm
