how do candy canes grow?

I got a candy cane coral with just one head and I'm curious how they grow or split. I have been feeding it every couple days and don't really know what to look for.

They will split heads and I've seen them sprout new ones. Just like most LPS

So like a frogspawn, their mouth will split, then form a new head?

They will pinch in the center getting to look like a figure 8 and finally pinching all the way through to form 2 heads. Pics are singl head, mid pinch, and separating heads. :-):-)
