As far as the loc line return is there one type better then others ? Do I need a dual one or is a single nozzle fine for a 90 gallon tank

Depends on how much water you are pumping but one appropriately sized should be fine.

I would do a single.
They do make a "y" loc-line connector if in the future you want to go that route.
