How do I cut 4" of lime rock?

I picked up a gorgeous large carpet anemone tonight and brought it home tonight. Problem is he came attached to a large rock and he's up against the glass anywhere I put him because my existing rock work is large too.

Can I get a grinder with a cutting wheel? I tried a chisel and sledge but was afraid to slip and stab it.
