Hey Friends,
How do i find its wild caught clown or captive bred?

hey, the video is not working. also you could contact the fish "dealer" and ask them if they know. most clown fish are captive bred in the hobby, I have personally only seen 2.

Your best bet would be to ask where they obtained the clown fish from.

@Gumbies R Us @ieatbugman @Gman83 The supplier said its wild caught. But I wanted to know if there any other way to confirm.

I added Anemone after a month from adding the clowns. They hosted almost in few hours.

Clowns are cheap and they breed readily, I doubt highly they’re wild caught as it would probably cost more for a retailer to obtain wild clowns.
But I guess you never know.

IMO those are wild caught. They look identical to my wild perc pair.

Yes, I am aware clown fishes are easy to breed. But my LFS said wild caught is easy for is supplier than maintaining a farm.

I see that you're from Singapore, so I'd assume there's a better chance they're wild caught. Percula are only really collected out of Bali and Papua new guinea anyway. They also look like mine:

beautiful pair!! Interesting that they're really only PNG and bali nowadays- the LFS I got my wild pair from always gets Solomon islands stock.

Oh yeah that too. Knew I was missing one. I'm pretty sure that's it for percula locales anyway, obviously can't expect to get them off the barrier reef, but according to this one study I found that population shouldn't be percula anyway. Mine are PNG

I think I read that same study! Very interesting. It would be cool if they did a whole revision of the occelaris/perc complex and we got some new species!

I think if they don't give the barrier reef "percula" a name referencing Nemo (given that's the population he's from) that would be one of the biggest disappointments of the decade. The black ocellaris unfortunately aren't able to get a cool new name because they were previously described as Amphiprion bicolor, so they'll just have to take that.

Amphiprion bicolor isn't terrible, although a Darwin-related name would be cooler. For GBR percs I can't think of anything nemo-related that isn't just Amphirprion Nemo LOL
