Just wanted some input on my plan for evaporation. A little backstory for why I'm worried is that when I had my 180G set up at my old house, we didn't have AC and the insulation was bad so in the Summer months it was very hot and humid and I was losing about 2-3 gallons per day. Over time my ceiling collapsed over the tank and you could tell it was from obvious water damage from the evaporation. The new tank is 240G and it is going in my basement where it is around 62-68 degrees year round. I have central air in this house and I plan on putting a dehumidifier near the tank that is rated for 60 pints/day. Every tank I have had since has had a lid but I would rather just a mesh screen on this one to help with par. I feel like I have a good plan in place but just wanted to hear your guys' thoughts on it.

The dehumidifier should be a big help. Having a mesh screen is def preferable to a covered tank.

I 100% agree that you will need a dehumifier in the basement. I also have a fan in the corner running just to move the air around a bit.
