If I was a fish I would want a breath of "fresh air" pretty often. My fish are pleased and I think the corals enjoy a replenishment of trace elements.

My answer to this would be, is it Saturday. Be proactive and regular with your water changes. Why wait for a problem to occur. You may find at some point that you need to do a larger change than usual because of a problem in the tank. You may also need to skip a regular change because you are away. We shoot for stability, but some guy named Murphy (there is a law named after him) likes to keep us on our toes.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
