Last week the wifey surprised me by getting a few frags from the LFS. Came home to find little baggies floating in the main tank. :)

One of the frags was a two headed torch. One head is green, the other purple. The green one seems to be ok, but the purple one hasn't really opened up. In fact after opening for a bit, it seems to have shrunk back into its skeleton.

Any thoughts? Is it still alive? Flow issue?

Parameters are
Salinity 1.026
Temp 25-26C
PH 8
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 1
Phosphate 0.1
Alk 10
Calcium 440
Mag 1350

Light is an illumagic blaze mini on the P2 program (mixed reef setting)
Flow is with a Jebao slw-10 on one side, and the return from the chiller on the other. Tank is a smallish 16 gallon nano.

Update... The purple torch is toast. Suspected brown jelly. Cut off the head and swished it in freshwater. Smelly brown slime came out of the stony skeleton.

Dosed some iodide and hoping for the best.

Here's the green head. A little deflated after taking it out to cut off the other head.

Sorry for your loss. I really think torches have a low overall survival rate in this hobby.

So, update on this... I used a siphon tube out into a bucket, full force on the head and pulled it out of the substrate. The plan was to pull it up to the surface, then scoop into a small container, thus making sure not to spread any brown jelly into the water column.... but I screwed up and in the process of scooping, dropped the head back in. Second try got it. Because the siphon was suctioning the head all the way to the surface, I am pretty sure that all the brown jelly was sucked out an into the bucket, but do you guys think that there's a chance I spread some?
