How Far Apart Do You Place Frags?

When you are placing your SPS frags, how much space do you give them?

Do you think about their patterns of growth, or do you just place them and trim them when they start shading others or growing into each other?

Do you think about their patterns of growth, or do you just place them and trim them when they start shading others or growing into each other?

I do the latter. In addition to not being able to accurately predict how they'll grow, I also don't like my aquarium to look too 'planned'.
And, sometimes it's interesting when corals contact each other. :)
