I just transferred some fish into a newly cycled tank. I dosed up to 3ppm ammonia. It is down to 0, my nitrites are just under 1. How soon should I see negative symptoms if there are any?

If the ammonia rises slowly over the coarse of weeks without intervention the burns will be evident around the fin joints and gills. Species will very. A clown or damsel will be fine in an ammonia saturated environment that would kill a butterfly fish in 12 hours. Most mature reefs 6+ months will never have these issues if kept with good standards.
