LOL the cabinet one has stove burners on the top! Like fer real this is why I love Pinterest. So ridiculous.
I vote for table tank as at least no heat elements and easy to access from all angles.
Ours will be in the living room away from heater/ac vent and direct light. It is also visible from all the couches so you can watch tv or the tank depending which way you look.

Kitchen/living room centerpiece is about as close as I'll get. And the door just to left of tank is attached garage where I'm building fish room/mixing station.

All throughout the interwebs you can spy tons of crazy shaped, themed and placed aquariums. But when it comes to functionality most of them are not!

1. So how important is "family functionality" when it comes to your reef?

2. When setting up your reef tank what steps did you take to make sure that your reef was functional for you and your family?

3. What would you change to make your current set up more functional?

Vote Above for the tank you think is more functional.

I didn't pick any of them. They are all stupid...lol. Back in the early 90s my neighbor had one of those coffee table tanks. It was a total pain to maintain and keep clean. He got a real tank about 6 months later.

The most practical would be the bed tank i think. Its not close to the floor to get broke and its not super tall to clean. There could be a fish room or something behind the bed tank for maintenance.

I would be more worried a seam would blow while I was sleeping and kill me haha.

Okay... so as ridiculously unpractical as it would be... I've secretly always wanted a Bed Tank! I've always remembered the house from the movie 2010 which had a bed tank. (They also had an indoor pool with dolphins that could swim in and out as they pleased).

Things are quiet enough now, especially with a bean animal overflow that it would be doable. But man... the maintenance nightmare! And imagine a midnight leak!

Here's the bed tank from the movie...

And the indoor dolphin pool... why isn't the future here yet?? ;)

I'd be more worried that I wouldn't get any sleep because I would be sitting there cross-legged looking at the tank all night. Also would be very distracting while doing it with the wife. "Honey are you looking at the tank? You ARE! Pay attention to me..."

Hello,

Coming from a medical professional I said no way on any of them.Stair case is bound to get broken with little kids. Bed would be a good way to drown in your sleep if that breaks or leaks. Table to easy for children to reach into and or fall into. The fireplace, how would you maintain it and reinforce it?. What about the heat from the fire place when active?

Honestly these are ideas that those clowns on the tv show tanked would come up with. Beautiful tank but everything dies in a week. These are horrible and dangerous ideas.
