How Little Light Will Grow GSP?

One of my “auxiliary” tanks is a 20gal to which bad actors are exiled. Hermits, crabs, and shrimps that weren’t playing well with others have their own little Botany Bay.

I’d like to add some GSP to get a little color and motion . The lights are basically LEDs in the tank cover, more intended for fish. The PAR is around 25 and the spectrum is very white. Water parameters are stable and in a good range for softies.

Would GSP grow with these anemimic (by reef standards) lights?

Hmmmm good question, I had some frags growing under a 25w energy saving light before in the sump. It was an old set up. Didn’t grow fast but was alive and growing. I’d say give it a shot and see? GSP is very resilient to anything and everything.

I have GSP currently growing on the bottom glass of a 10 gallon with a 16w led light of questionable quality and it’s been doing fine. I never bothered to check par on this tank but I can check tomorrow.

Looks like I have about 33 PAR at the bottom of my tank according to my apogee sq-520. I agree with @Reef Jedi, throw some in there and see what happens.

Next time I'm at the LFS I'll grab a frag of GSP and give it a whirl.

This will certainly be a test of GSP's "bullet-proofedness".
