hey guys, just want know how long do hermit crabs live in a nank tank usually? My fiancé gets attached to things easily, so I don't want to get a animal that will die quick. Hehehe

Thanks

It's all random. They can be bought as old or young. Don't think people can tell the age of them. Mine usually lives for 3-4 years before I have to replace them. Just good water parameters with food and they will be usually long lived. When hermit crabs grow and molt they may kill each other for larger shells to live.

From google
If the wild hermit crab is fortunate enough to live his life in his natural habitat, he can live up to 30 years. A crab in captivity may have a much shorter life, not even reaching 1 year. However, with proper care, your crab can live up to 20 years.
