Are you talking about the UV light that kills algae or some other algae thing? I didn't know there was anything called an algae scrubber but sounds interesting.i always have my algae scrubber running. im curious if anyone else does this? or do you just have certain times that you run yours?
It's a device that grows algae intentionally to remove nutrients and compete with other algaes in the tank. It was invented by Dr Walter Adey at the Smithsonian Institute roughly 40 years ago, then it was re-imagined by @SantaMonica back in like 2008 into a waterfall version. Are you talking about the UV light that kills algae or some other algae thing? I ran the Walter Adey dump box (tseesaw tray) system for a few years, 24/7.So, lots of words but 24/7 is fine. Also don't clean as often or as rigorously. 10-14 days is OK, unless it's getting really clogged up. 7 days is just fine. If it's working, don't change!
