How many light fixtures for a 35.4" x 23.6" x 19.7" (L-W-H) reef tank

I am setting up and Innovative Marine 75 EXT tank. How many light fixtures would I need for 35.4" x 23.6" x 19.7" (L-W-H) reef tank?

It will most likely be softies and possibly some SPS.

I was thinking of going with Eco Tech Radion LED's, probably XR-15's. Can I get a way with one, or do I need two?

Which models should I go with for the application?

You’d want two XR15’s. I just bought an Orphek Icon - one fixture that should cover nicely. My tank is same dims as yours only a little taller. I plan to run mostly SPS. It will hopefully ship next week.

If you’re going to buy xr15’s, then buy two Reefi Uno Pro 2.0 you’ll save money and have better lights with more power and flexibility with mounting height, lens options, etc

I'd start with this non-inclusive chart..
Add Micmol, Nicrew, Aquamaxx ect to the mix if you want.

You need watts to create par so best to shoot for what you can afford and dim according to your coral demands.
The suggestion of 2 Reefi Unos is 540 watts for $1000.
Pretty sure you could do with less than 540 watts for a 75gal tank.

Oh and look for one that sort of maximizes your preferred look.
From daylight to pure blue the led layout will determine what you will end up wasting.

Like if you like whiter tanks you wouldn't buy a red sea or any "blue" variant of light.

Two XR15’s will be upwards of $1k as well if he gets pros. Seems price point worthy to mention anything in that realm. That’s why I mentioned the Orphek.

Man, I've been out of the hobby too long. It. was a lot easier when I was using two 250 metal halide with two VHO.

Halides are still an option, I’m using two 250w RB pendants and Quanta Pro LED bars.

I like the idea of less heat with the LED's. I guess less electricity as well.

My tank has yet to go over 79 degrees. I also think I was running more wattage running all LED's than my current setup, so it just depends on the setup and how fixtures you're using. The whole "LED's are cheaper" isn't a thing when lighting acropora/sps dominant tanks.

Based on what I see, MH can be less money. However I do like the look of LED's as well as don't want the look of MH in my room.

i think you will be happy with your purchase, an orphek is perfect on a 36” tank. I love mine over my 40b

I guess you mounted from the ceiling? I would like to do that but we just moved into a new(ly) built house. My wife would flip if I did that. I guess I would have to use the arms.

How high did you mount? Where dod you buy it? I see BRS is out of stock. I think Orphek might have them in stock.

I have never had LED's before. Deciding on the LED settings seems daunting.

Yes I hung that one over the janky tanks from the ceiling 14-15” off the surface of the water.

My new system also uses an orphek 14” off the surface, but I hung it from a shelf instead of the ceiling, which also concealed the led power supply. So you might be able to convince the wife on holes in the wall vs ceiling

I bought my first one from brs, but my second direct from orphek. I have the older atlantik v4, the new icon is supposed to be better.

That looks great! I hope I can get some color and growth like that. I miss my old tanks full of acros the size of volleyballs. Now I have tiny twigs and am struggling to get color and growth. Patience is key, though, so I’ll ride it out.
