36x18 x20., 53G. 4 fish and with 2 more soon. 5 trochus snails.

I've read 1-2 per gallons, which seems absurd?

And:

Add 3-4 total?

A LFS owner told me 6-12 "to make a difference" ?

Which should I do?

When my 135 was set up before I moved I had 50 them as wel as 150-200 other snails and crabs [emoji886] atm adding 150 certh to my 135 newly cycled tank so not unheard of 1 per gal your CUC crew is important and they’ll blend in basically , what else u adding ? Invest wise again this is iMO

Me personally doing just snails I’d do 50-55 total of different kinds such as nas, certh, turbo, ect May I suggest reefcleaners.org has a great write up on all there inverts on what the do for the tanks , I’m sure others will chime in but that’s my opinion

Is your tank mature? Nass eat meaty stuff and not algae and can starve if the sand is not full of gunk for them to eat. You can also feed them by putting meaty stuff on the sand for them.

Almost a year old.

Will feed if necessary. Just trying to figure out how many to start with? They will be quarantined first and I know I have to feed them in the QT

I was thinking maybe up to 10. The huge ones like from Tonga, maybe not so many.
+1 I tend to get far less than I see a lot of people suggesting. When I set up my 135 I got 10 Nassarius, 10 Trochus, and 10 Cerith. You can always add more if you need more but adding too many to have them starve is not ideal imo.

They are so tough, IMO. They cannot live on detritus, so they need fed actual food. Every time I have gotten some, they are no longer around 6 months later.
