I currently have an xp8 and a launch setup. I have been supplementing with kalk but demand is to the point where I am about to setup my ca rx. With my launch I have 1 ph port setup to read my tanks ph. What are your thoughts on using this probe for my ca rx and not having a ph probe in the tank? This would avoid the need for something like an x3.
Thanks

CaHave the potential to lowers ph in a tank to undesired levels given that you are essentially adding acidic water back to the tank. I personal would not recommend running without two. Can grab a pm1 module if you need another port or get rid of your orp probe and use that for a second ph if running a pro.

Are you talking apex here? I have hydros.
Thanks for the reply.

It would be better if you had a pH probe for the tank as a backup off for the reactor. I have a calcium reactor and I have never used it. I started dosing All For Reef and a KH buffer. So far that has worked for me. I still do have 2 pH probes but one is in my iV and one in the sump.

Yeah I am trying to ride out kalk as long as possible but with a 300 display and a 150 frag tank it's not holding the line any longer. Was just a matter of time, I never expected it to last forever.

Yes over read the xp8. But the two probe suggestion still recommended.

I personally am all about over engeneering, automation and redundancy in the reef. With this setup in mind, I would run two. Set up automation for them to keep it controlled and notifications to you for out of spec numbers. This way you can be in tune with what’s going on. Always have calibration solution on hand to keep them calibrated for reliable numbers.
